On BEING HERE

A Return to Our Fundamental Nature
A Residential Retreat with Dr. Susan Rangitsch
September 28 – October 2, 2022
Crazy D Lodge, The J Bar L Ranch,
Melville, Montana

The eye of our perception, our view out the window – this is one modality through which we perceive the world. The glass can absolutely distort our view, and if it hasn’t been tended to regularly or faithfully, there will be a lack of light and clarity in the visual world. You may experience this as a dullness, a depression, or a deep longing for the vibrancy you have felt before. Although the visual is but one modality, when we reach bravely beyond our reach, clearing away and cleaning the glass, we open to the vastness before us and all possibilities. The body relaxes. The heart begins to quiver, and we recognize that we have found our way home.

The metaphor of clearing and cleaning the lens is the process of disengaging from our self-centered identity. We are not solid and separate, nor impervious to change though the ego tells us differently. Here, we seek to be free of our limiting views, so our perception of the world is direct, as though looking through no glass at all.

The Crazy D Lodge sits atop a hill in the middle of an 8,000-acre cattle ranch. The view is vast and open in all directions with the Crazy Mountains rising on the western horizon. Sweet Grass Creek meanders below the lodge and out back is a private lake that supports a migratory bird population. It is an idyllic setting, beautiful but also raw. The wind in these parts can inhabit you. The veils are thin, and it is easy to lose oneself in the immensity of landscape and sky. In the spiritual and transformative context, it is what we hope for while the body remains like the mountain.

The Lodge is outside of Melville, Montana. The closest airport is Bozeman. The distance from Bozeman to the Crazy D is 110 miles, a 2-hour drive. Distance from Missoula to Bozeman is 200 miles, all Interstate, about 3 1/2 hours.

Arrival Time, between 3-5pm on Wednesday. Departure time, after 12:30pm on Sunday.

Participants must be on a path to awakening and have at least a foundational practice.

Assisting Susan in the orchestration of this retreat is Hilary Pidden, a student of Susan’s Circle work since 2008. As well as living her own spiritual practice with family and friends in Maine, Hilary teaches movement and dance through Qoya and is also a Reiki Master. She is an artist who prompts the artist in all of us to be free of expectations.
